Assateague Island is a little over 3 hours away and is a beautiful island that offers lots of diverse activities to suit all tastes.
Outdoors
Horses

Welcome to the wild horses of Assateague. They are feral so try to enjoy them from a distance. Some bite. You can enjoy watching them on the beach, and running around the island.
Camping
Camping is available only in the Maryland district of Assateague Island. Campers are reminded to bring firewood (locally purchased), sunscreen, insect repellent, screen tents for shade and insect protection, and long tent stakes to anchor tents in the sand and wind.

Fishing, Crabbing and Hunting

All that fresh air will have you working up an appetite. What better way to enjoy a meal than to catch it. Try hunting, crabbing, surf fishing or clamming.
Horseback Riding, Hiking and Biking
Bring your horse to the beach for a ride, enjoy several of the bike trails, or hike several trails.

For the Kids

Indulge in some miniature golf at Surfside Golf, visit Maui Jack’s Waterpark, or take one of Daisey’s Island Cruises.
